GENERAL DUTIES
- Assembles recorded video footage into a finished project that matches the district’s vision and is suitable for broadcasting.Ultimately, as a film and video editor, you should be able to bring sight and sound together in order to tell a cohesive story.
- Writes, edits, designs and coordinates the production of district communications such as newsletters and social media posts.
- Provides support in planning, scheduling, coordinating and staffing special system and/or media events including Board of Education meetings, district-level outreach and community events, school tours, press conferences, banquets, exhibits, Open Houses and other events.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the preparation of communications and public relations materials to include news releases, brochures, flyers, presentations, newsletters, and other information as appropriate/needed.
- Assists in the writing and graphic design of promotional or informational materials for printing and distribution.
- Supports the maintenance of district website and supports school webmasters.
- Assists with social media communications for district.
- Maintains database records and files including mailing lists and publication distribution information.
- Provides photographic support district-wide, attends on-site functions as needed, and assists in the maintenance and development of an up-to-date photographic library to meet district communications/marketing project needs..
- Edits video productions, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or a related field or commensurate experience.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communications skills
- Experience with graphic and web design, and social media management
- Advanced computer proficiency with Google Adobe InDesign, Photoshop; audio/visual equipment
- Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with other employees, administrative personnel, and the public
- Ability to edit video using appropriate software
- Ability to organize and coordinate meetings and events
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Preferred Experience
Minimum of one year of communications experience or an internship in public relations. Must provide a portfolio of video, graphics and writing sample (s).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee will work in an environment adhering to school board policy. This position may require work hours that vary as a result of evening activities or emergencies. In addition, job requirements may require work on weekends, holidays and attendance at meetings.

JOB GOAL
Serves as the District's chief media person and as an intermediary between school administrators/officials and media professionals in order to provide information on district and school initiatives, activities, policies, and operations.
Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication the conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and the school board.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, bend and sometimes lift up to 25 pounds. Mobility skill are necessary to access a variety of work locations.
